Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory

Upcoming

As part of the University's Campus Development Plan, the Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory is currently under development to create a world-class facility for teaching, research, and innovation in molecular biology and biotechnology.

The laboratory will be designed to integrate life sciences with advanced biotechnology and engineering, providing students and researchers with hands-on experience in molecular techniques, interdisciplinary research, and scientific discovery. It will support the study and manipulation of nucleic acids, proteins, and other biomolecules, preparing graduates to address global challenges in healthcare, agriculture, environmental sustainability, renewable energy, and forensic science.

The proposed facility will feature advanced instrumentation, including:

  • QuantStudio™ 5 Real-Time PCR System with the Human Identification (HID) DNA Quantification System for DNA quantification, gene expression studies, and forensic applications.
  • VeritiPro™ Thermal Cycler for conventional PCR amplification.
  • Nano-Spectrophotometers for precise nucleic acid and protein quantification.
  • High-Resolution Compound Microscopes and Comparison Microscopes for biological and forensic analysis.
  • Laminar Flow Cabinets to ensure sterile laboratory conditions.
  • Heating Mantles, High-Speed Microcentrifuges, Mini Centrifuges, and Vortex Mixers for efficient sample preparation and molecular workflows.

Once operational, the Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory will strengthen the University's research capabilities and provide students with industry-relevant practical training in molecular diagnostics, genetic engineering, recombinant DNA technology, synthetic biology, and forensic genomics, reinforcing the University's commitment to innovation and excellence in biotechnology education.
